Dual stakes-winning mare Kiwi Ida showed her class at Wingatui on Friday when effortlessly taking out the All New Mazda 3 – 1st June (1400m).

Under a cool ride by jockey Rahul Beeharry, the John and Karen Parsons-trained four-year-old settled towards the rear of the field where she remained for the majority of the race.

Beeharry improved his charge coming around the home turn and the daughter of Squamosa was too good for her rivals, running away to a 2-1/2 length victory over Nowhere Man, with a further 1-3/4 lengths back to Moyrabella in third.

Beeharry was confident heading into Friday’s contest and said he was delighted to get the result.

“Last time I was a bit unlucky and didn’t get a clear run, but today she was just too good. I just love this horse,” he said.

“I love riding her, she is just such an honest horse.

“Whenever I ask her to go she just goes, you know she will just fight until the end.”
